Playa La Arena, Tenerife

Small urban black sand beach in the tourist center of Puerto de Santiago, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, in the southwestern corner of the island.

It has a large number of services and ease of access. A popular beach with a lot of traffic, both from tourists and residents on the island.

The black sand absorbs heat from the sun and keeps the water temperature somewhat warmer.

It is ideal for all types of audiences and families. Here you can swim, dive, snorkel, and take great walks. All under a very pleasant sun and climate almost all year round.

There are usually no strong currents at Playa La Arena, although the waves can be moderate on certain days.

It has an approximate length of 140 meters, and a width of 40 meters.

Nearby you will find public transport, bars, restaurants, shops… as well as hotels and holiday apartments.

What services does La Arena beach offer?

On the beach you can find toilets, showers, trash cans… as well as an umbrella and hammock rental service.

There is cleaning service, lifeguard service, and even a small tourist information office.

It has an access ramp for people with reduced mobility.

In the surroundings you can find various establishments, such as minimarkets, souvenir shops, restaurants, bars…

There are bus and taxi stops in the area, as well as parking spaces on public roads.

How to get to La Arena beach?

The fastest route by car to get to Playa de La Arena is to circulate along the southern highway (TF-1), take exit 87 on the TF-46 road towards Los Gigantes. Continuing along it, passing the town of Alcalá and following the signs to Los Gigantes you will arrive at Puerto de Santiago.

There is a bus stop near the beach. You can get there from Puerto de la Cruz taking line 325, or from the center of Santiago del Teide using lines 461 and 462. From Los Cristianos take line 473, which passes through Costa Adeje where you can also take line 477.

To avoid parking problems and bus journeys with many stops, a good way to get there is to take a taxi from one of the centers in the south of the island, such as Adeje, Santiago del Teide, Guía de Isora…
